Description

This was my final order by the botany magazine Garance Voyageuse (Travelling Garance), and for sure one of my very best ones. It needed a very precise documentation about the sheep, the shepherd and the local landscape. Everything was hand-drawn with a Black Stone pencil. Today, as I shall show in later posts, I use sometimes this very effective black and white style for my graphic teaching, whether for InDesign or for XPress, to obtain good pictures in very short time. But when there is no style specification, since very little time I favour 3D renders.

What a work and what a pic ! eyes wide open. mouth too F A N T A S T I C ! I wonder how long was the creating time. More than one month ? How many copies went into the wastepaper basket ? The sheeps, the shepherd, the whole scene ! Incredible good ! I love it ! Best note !

Hmm Creating time I would say 2 days (but my working days are approximatively of 12 hours), perhaps a bit more. That's too long, for sure, many collegues say that I'm far too slow, they would not spent more than 1 day on this kind of picture. I used 15 photographs as documentary source, plus several books taken of the library of my town. Sure that is too much also. How many copies in the waste basket? I would say 2. I have something to learn now, and this is essential: be much faster! And, for that, you're a fantastic model for me, dear Rouvard!

if #2 pencil is the most used why is it still only #2? the perspective of the hills and sheep/herder is picture perfect. awesome talent you have
