Description
A small neutron star with an immense gravity well is tearing the essence out of an aging red giant. (Hey, that's not unlike some human relationships I know of)

Great render. Can't help but wonder what the average mean temperature would be on this little oasis! Keep 'em coming. :) AA
Very nice indeed. Great colors and good terrain. Well done. ---- Scott.
Thanks. I do get lucky every so often. It was one of those pictures I had seen painted sometime, somewhere and it stayed with me. I figured I'd get a reasonably close approximation done with Bryce.
What an interesting image...? Since planetary bodies have been discovered at least around pulsars (one that I know of) it's not too much of a stretch to conceptualize planetary bodies around neutron stars or in neutron/binary star systems. I'm curious about the kinds of gravitational and other environmental stresses put on any planet in such a system. Great render, fantastic color, and there's even a haunting mood as well...so much the better. Superb speculative and artistic work.
