Description
This little guy joined us for lunch at Paradise Visitor Center in Rainier National Park. He never really tried to approach us, but certainly didn't mind us being about 3 meters away. He spent a lot of time licking the ground; I suspect he had found some salt, since there was ample water elsewhere.
Thanks for the great comments on my other Rainier pics. I truly appreciate them.

AWWE WHAT A SWWET SHOT love the timing of this wonderful lick captured so close and clear !! well done indeed!... hehe ... beautiful deer too what a sweetie she is!! EXCELLENT!!
Very delightful and lovely creature portrait!!!Bravo!V:DDD.Hugsxx
Young bucks seem to be less nervous than the doe. Glad he visited.
Adorable and quite used to being photographed I imagine. I was reading about Mount Rainier Park Deer and saw a photograph of one eating what looked like Grey Spanish Moss, but it turns out to be a type of lichen. Thankyou Dennis:-)
Lunch with the deer while on sabbatical ... life doesn't get much better. This is a great shot and his tongue adds a lot of character.
What a great shot - love the way you caught him licking his lips. Salty snacks must be a favorite throughout the animal kingdom. Perhaps he found some potato chip crumbs. Yum!!!!
How adorable! Great picture, Dennis.
Sweeeet capture! Love the tongue out!! We saw them too, at Paradise, but you got a much better capture than I did! Hope you enjoyed the day!
We saw a deer in our neigbor yard tonight eating the apples of their tree..but of course no camera in hand..Nice capture of this one licking his chops... :)
What a handsome young buck!!!!!! Look at his little nubs??!!! If you had some apples he'd follow you anywhere!!! LOL!!! What they won't do for apples!!! Great catch!!!!!!
