Description
It's been a while since I posted my last image, I did images like this several times, but I think this one turned out to be cool.
All planet proportions are scaled as they really are(beside the rings of Saturn I did them freehand), the textures are mostly NASA stuff and some textures are extracted from the freeware program Celestia (http://www.shatters.net/celestia/).

Nice Solar system pic fdesign.
really nice, a faint ring around Uranus would be accurate. I believe it runs north/south.
Thanks for your comments, I abandoned the ring, because it should be some kind of schematic image, otherwise I would had to add the rings around Jupiter and Neptune as well (which are almost invisible).

Great idea! But, I think Mars is bigger than you have it. I should know - I live there! You have also missed the 10th planet - discovered a year or two ago, can't remember it's name. Nice work! I rememeber reading that you could fit 1 million Earths inside the sun.......not that you'd actually want to....
Hi Bryster, which 10th planet do you mean? Quaoar, Sedna, 2003UB313(Xena)? ;-) There are too much KBO's (kuiper belt objects). Mars diameter is 6794km while Earth's is 12756km almost twice Mars, the mass of Mars is only 0,107 times the mass of earth (the reason why Mars can't keep up a more dense atmosphere). About the sun: It's right that our sun holds 99,9% of the mass of our solar system but the diameter of the sun is "only" 109 times Earth... Enough astronomy lesson for today ;-)

Fantastic illustration. When you see earth in scale with Jupiter you realise just how insignificant we are in the scheme of things. Indeed it's not even worth trying to comprehend the sheer enormity of the universe unless you want a small brain haemorage of course.
