Description
This is quite possibly a "one of a kind" aircraft on display at the U.S. Air Force Museum at Wright Patterson AFB, Dayton, Ohio. The Douglas B-18 was based on the DC-2 transport and was Army Air Corps main "heavy" bomber in the late 1930s. Like many obsolescent types, the B-18 soldiered on in WWII in the Philippine Campaign of '41-42 and was a valuable anti-submarine patrol plane with for both the U.S. and Canadian air forces.

There are a couple I know of out here in California (as well as a couple of unrelated B-23 Dragons).
IIRC this was Howard Hughs' entry in the 'bomber contest' -- easy to see how the B-17 won.

A real rarity. Not seen one before in the UK. Seen a picture in books etc. This is a great shot. Wonderful.
