Description

This friendly little fellow is not a Basilisk, he is a Rhinoceros Iguana (just sort of brought the mythical creature to mind, hence the title) that I shot out at Animal Kingdom last weekend. He really isn't all that little either; he's about 5 to 5 1/2 feet from nose to tail. I must say that I was actually impressed by the place for the simple fact that there were numerous location to shoot (even with the place being pretty packed, I was rarely at a loss for something interesting to photograph). Our model was completely unphased by all of the people gathering around him... he had the attitude of "eh, whatever, just don't block my sun". Shot with my Olympus E-300, using the 18-180mm Ultra Zoom lens (actual focal length 171mm), at ISO 400 with 1/80 shutter and F6.0 aperture. Photoshop used only to add my signature and resize the image. Comments and crits are welcome, of course. Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Excellent capture! I don't guess that in all my (very numerous) visits to the Animal Kingdom, that I have ever seen this guy. Will have to keep my eye out for him next time! :-)

Friendly fellow? One would hope so, as big as he is. Could probably have one nasty bite if you got in his way. Nice photo, horns and all. HUGS!!

He's a handsome chap. Seriously, I like the little guy. Reptiles are lovely and seriously misunderstood. And yes, the E-300 rocks!

A beautiful iguana! What a rare occasion to have the chance and even take a picture. I don't see anything to improve IMHO. And isn't it kind of him to turn his head in your direction when you took the pic? ;o) He's a lovely guy - you took a wonderful pic of him. Take care, ~Sassy~
