Description
"Few men would have believed in the last days of the nineteenth century, that human affairs was being studied and scrutinized by minds cooler and more ancient than man's."-- H.G. Wells
And so began the War of the Worlds! I was inspired by the film from the 1950's. The elegance of the Martian War-machine was only equalled by it's magnificent fearful sound-effects. In that spirit I tried to visualize a precursor of it. The tripod of the London invasion comes to life!
Hope you like it!
Media is Poser 6, Wings, and particles run amuck!Origninal mesh by D Proctor, modified for Poser by CliveP, plus an addition of Nazaki's original design. Added and subtracted parts until it looked right to me.

works for me, I'm also a fan of the '50s version. the remake was ok, but it just didn't have the same feel, even though it followed the book closer than the old movie.
Nicely done. I really like all the golden fiery colors in there. The green lasers could use some edge softening, but the red works for me. Nice.
possibly little-known fact; the movie in the 50's (George Pal, if'n I remember correctly) didn't have legs because they didn't have animation or effects that would look realistic..;) of course, I'm reminded of the disco albumn of the 70's (Wayne's..;), but that's me..;) great stuff..
Fantastic scene, colours and lighting...Excellent work!!!
