Description

I have been so busy I haven't had time to do a complete scene in a long time. This image kept crashing on me so I wasn't sure I would even get to finish and post this one. I finally got an acceptable render. Wanted some more details on the hunter, horse and mid ground but didn't dare add another poly. I was oringinally going to do this in my V5I trial version but it expired so I did it in V5. It was still a fun peice to do and learned a little bit more about cloud mats while doing the dust clouds. DAZ Mil horse,bison,M3, RDNA Cheveyo hair and Renapd's Native American Mega for indian's clothes.

I know how frustrating it is when Vue won't take any more... but you did a fantastic piece with this scene! My eye goes right to the action and I do not "miss" any more details! :)

This is just an incredible scene - beautifully set up and I like the level of detail you have here - right down to the buffalo staring at the rider alongside! Outstanding and well worth all the time it took to do - well done!!!

Excellent job, great posing, POV and atmosphere! I think the buffaloes and the mustang are all a tad too large for the rider - whoo looks very good. Bow and quiver are actually not plains-style but I guess 99 out off 100 ppl will never notice ;). I only noticed two years ago that Plains indians held the quiver differently than europeans - even old masters of Western art often get this wrong. The quiver would open to the left side of the archer and was pulled around so that the arrows could be grabbed more or less from the nap of the rider. They can be retrieved much faster this way than always reaching behind your own shoulder for a new one. Great job! More please!

Absolutely impressive artwork - the sense of action is very convincing. I have a tip on how to get your crashing issue resolved. You could save two different versions, one containing the forground (indian and horse) and the other one for the background (buffalos). Afterwards the seperate renders can be merged in a graphic editing program like Photoshop. This is how I proceed sometimes if filesizes become too big and Vue starts to crash. Maybe it helps next time... :)

I think it would be interesting to post this with the original 19th Century illustration. If I am not mistaken, was it a Currier & Ives, or Harper's Weekly, or even a F. Remington, illustration? I remember that it was an etching in one of the illustrated publications of the time. I seem to remember seeing the illustration from time to time in the history books...very well done. One crit: maybe add just a little more dust kicked up by the bison and the horse? To give it a little more Atmospheric Perspective?
