Description
My first completed Wings 3D model, the Zerg Hydralisk (the menacing alien) that is. I hope it looks reasonably convincing; the actual StarCraft unit is a pretty bizarre creature. Hydralisks are said to have emerged from the evolutionary matrix of the benign, serpentine Slothien, then diabolically manipulated by the hive-minded Zerg, twisting the once gentle creatures into these murderous beasts. I guess you have to be an enthusiast of StarCraft to appreciate any of this.
Special thanks to Dann-O for his help in turning me on to a number of excellent Wings 3D and subdivision modeling websites, and for info on other applications, UV Mapper in particular, which helped out with the texture mapping. Wings 3D tutorials by draculaz, pakled and pauljs75 also provided lots of valuable information for using this wonderful, FREE application.
Additional thanks to artofgaming.net for the Terran Marine mesh, which was extensively modded, and to www.jpergrafando.it for the picture used as the shoulder skull decal. All other models are Bryce 5 originals.

Superbly done!!!
Bravoooooooooooo
awesome. the big guy is really cool.
Thanks for the comment. I have to say, the Hydralisk (that menacing StarCraft Zerg creature) was one of my first attempts. Wings3d, a polygon modeler, is great for making structures, but not so good when it comes to organic forms. ZBrush offers their free Sculptris modeler which is way better for making creatures. I've been using that with better results.
