Description
Hortus Botanicus 1590 Leiden (2)
The Hortus Botanicus was founded in 1590, less then a mile away where Rembrandt was born in 1606.
It is very likely that Rembrandt has wondered around in this garden, looking at all kind of exotic plants. From the first day the Botanic Garden was open for the Public.
There is still one plant from the early 17th century, and quit a few very old trees, well over the 200 years old.
In the Greenhouse where you kind find the Victoria Regina, this beautiful flowering plant is found. Ooops forgotten to make a note of the name.
It was steaming hot in this greenhouse!!
Have a very nice weekend

Henk, your tulip photos are absolutely wonderful, but I had to comment here because the Desert Rose is a flower I hold near and dear. I have several of them in my garden and they always have fabulous blooms such as this. Super photo!!
