About the picture: When I first saw the official NASA photos of this aircraft, I was amazed, and immediately asked questions at the man who gave me the picture, regarding how many of these aircraft were built. In particular in this picture the aircraft is very similar to the Josef Andreas Epp's Omega Diskus, german WW2 disc aircraft project (2 Pabst ramjets plus 8 Argus lift fans), built postwar in GDR with Soviet assistance in 1950 and known as "Pirna Disc", first Soviet disc aircraft. The GDR disk was not a success and perhaps the prototype either crashed or was scrapped altogether. Epp, discouraged, returned to West Germany and provided the United States with full details of his "Pirna Disc" construction which was documented in 1956. Epp also patented the propulsion system in 1956, then received another patent for his entire craft in 1958. About the artwork: This is my fourth and last "UFO by NASA" picture (take a look to the other pictures in my gallery). UFO and custom textures made by me. The UFO is totally modelled and rendered in BRYCE; I have used my own "Luftwaffe 1946 - Omega Diskus" with a new texture map, on sale in my Renderosity shop.
