Description

This was a diversion from my outdoorsy pics and will be the first in a series of portraits. My friend, Cindi, called with an SOS to me. The photographer she originally hired had to cancel a photo session due to our March blizzard. She asked if I could help out and take a few shots of her for her CD cover. Not knowing what I was getting into...with NO studio and minimal lights, I agreed to try to help her out. So...here we are in her bedroom using only window light and one reflector panel. Not bad for a music teacher, eh? (Thanks to Andreas for his help on resizing this image!) Shot in RAW with Nikon D70, f5.6 1/80 and a bit of postwork in PSCS. Comments welcome ~ Jodie :0)

I'd say you achieved a professional status with this -- and (best of all perhaps) a very natural look. And that's got to be the proverbial million dollar smile that you captured, not forced and looking like a very genuine grin.

Great job Jodie considering the shortage of equipment. This young woman Cindi promotes a generous smile and chose her outfit well.Nice soft tones and gratefully a very natural makeup application should boost sales!...?....hmmm......didn't catch what she was selling but anyway. :) :B eaver !

I love this, Jodie, and I suspect Cindi does too. (Now the potentially unpopular bit! But read it all, it's not bad) We are led to believe that all Americans have faces full of botox and plastic - so, like the beautiful Jane Fonda, your friend is a refreshing and naturally beautiful antidote to that idea. Of course, she has had one of the best photographers (in the world!) do her over - so how lucky is that! However, having said all of that - possibly too much - you are STILL my fave, sweet Lady.

Hard to pick a favorite from the 3 you've posted, they are all just terrific portraits. This one seems the warmest and most inviting though.
