Yes this is made with Terragen :) It's postworked from my "Glowing Layers" (the first). Look at that one for a better idea. I played around and got this and it was so cool I had to keep it. I will get to working on an all new one soon :)
I had to save this image as a GIF to keep the colors. It washed out badly in JPEG. The thumbnail unfortunately had to be a JPEG because all the GIFs I made were over 15kb. This is the only time where I've had to save as GIF to make it look better, hehe. PNG was even better.

My secret? hehe, they are low quality 3D clouds. I experimented A LOT with cloud settings and render settings and it has a clever POV and sun position. I just did an interesting postwork from my Glowing Layers 1 (mostly just "Edge" filter) for this. Look at that one and you will understand more I think.
