Dramatic composition...I like it!..Those are Scarabs aren't they?......Perhaps some reflected firelight from behind the camera / POV ? It may pick out highlights on the skull better?
Wow! This is awesome! Those scarab bugs remind me of the Mummy movie.
Oh, yes, the Mummy movie, definately. Just one nit pic, the table should have been rendered with the "smooth polygons" turned off.. I notice that it's bulging in places and that's whats causing the book to be eaten up in the corners. Other than that it's a great pic, the lighting is perfect :)
Agree with the previous comments.The book is also "sinking" into the table/floor.Also the table/floor has a bizarre edge to it.Would have liked to see some shadowing to add to the dark/gothic look & theme.It just seems too bright.Good concept though.:o)

Nice indeed, I like your subject! Cons - perhaps you could try a few shadows - and the book cover on bottom right (our right) seems to penetrate the pillow.
