Description

About John Carter of Mars: Edgar Rice Burroughs, now better known as the creator of the character Tarzan, portrays John Carter as an immortal being. In the opening pages of A Princess of Mars, the author reveals to the reader that Carter can remember no childhood, having always been a man of about thirty years old. Many generations of families referred to him as "Uncle Jack," but he always lived to see all the members of the families grow old and die, while he remained young. After travelling to Mars, he seemed to find his true calling in life as a warrior-savior of the planet's inhabitants. The film, John Carter of Mars, is in pre-production by Paramount Pictures. It is tentatively scheduled for release in 2006. Jon Favreau has been signed to direct this movie, taking over from Kerry Conran. The original script by Mark Protosevich was re-written by Ehren Kruger. Reportedly, however, Favreau is selecting a new writer to bring the script back closer to the original work. About the artwork: This time a Sci-Fi/Heroic Fantasy pulp "fake" cover. I hope to have catch the mood of John Carter world. Comments, rates and votes are welcome as always! :)

A movie, its about time. Carter's immortality was probably an inspiration for M. Moorcock's Eternal Champion.

Speaking as both a fan of this kind of artwork and a lifelong fan and scholar of ERB's works, I must say you've done a fantastic job here. Full marks, as my old college literature professor used to say.

The cover art on many of these novels of the bygone days of westerns, fantasy and scifi were capable of setting in motion our imagination even before we turned the page. The true illustrators before the overwhelming influence of TV and Film have inspired many generations to persue our own creativity and imagination. Excellent job "duo" :B eaver !
