My guess is that this is an armillary sphere showing the planes of the multiverse. This would make an excellent artifact for a fantasy roleplaying game such as Dungeons and Dragons. What a wonderful construct!
I just love your XD work, and this is a stunner, hope you have a happy and creative year to come! All the best, nick.
I have enjoyed seeing your work all through 2005 and look forward to seeing more in 2006! Happy New Year!

"All passion becomes strength when it has an outlet from the narrow limits of our personal lot in the labour of our right arm, the cunning of our right hand, or the still, creative activity of our thought." George Eliot What are we except creative? Thank you for a most excellent image, indicative of our era.
Just a tremendous intricacy of elegant form: and a rewardingly creative New Year to you as well...

Mijn nieuwe oorbellen! helemaal in de knoop! Gelukkig Nieuw Jaar, Dirk:-)
A fantastically intricate picture , Dirk - the Saturn - like rings are outstanding and I like the increasing density of the structure towards the centre !
