Description
The car behind the GG-1 from yesterday's post. Looks like an old baggage car.
Did some research on the GG-1... This particular engine is 'famous,' and the title was just a little too appropriate. In the early 1950's the train this engine was pulling lost its brakes for the last 2/3 of the passenger cars. The engine slammed into Union Station in D.C. It and two cars fell through the floor into the lower level. Some injuries (of course!), but no fatalities. Quite a bit of luck there. The engine was removed by cutting it into three parts and taking it back to the shop to be reassembled.
The GG-1s had to be classics. The only thing that took them out of service was newer technology coming out.
Enjoy; thanks for viewing.
Whoo! Whoo! ;-D
