Description


Bumper-WAC Short range ballistic test vehicle US demonstration of a two stage launch vehicle, coupling a V-2 (developed during the WWII by Werner von Braun) with a WAC Corporal (developed in USA on 1944). The first six Bumper-Wac rockets were launched from the White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico. The first of these was launched on May 13, 1948. The vehicle flew to an altitude of 80 miles at a maximum speed of 2,740 m.p.h

my Dad used to work there, back then. Got to see a few of the later models go up..pretty good work.
