Description
She seems to have gotten lost in time,
Her history lost in the web's design,
Even though everyone called her Emily.
Her smile glowed like the morning sun,
But dawn has come and the light is gone,
Her radiance now only a memory.
Her hair sparkled like woven gold,
Her skin was young but her soul was old,
The wisdom was written on her face.
Her voice was soft when she would speak,
Her sense of humor was tongue-in-cheek,
But now she's gone without a single trace.
Close your eyes, you're bound to see
A girl as lovely as can be
Out at midnight, standing by the water.
Her silhouette lost with the moon,
A life that ended much too soon,
No longer a mother, sister, or daughter.
In order for new life to begin
Eventually an old one must end,
A sad fate for dear, sweet Emily.
But her warm sunlight still shines on,
The radiance not fully gone,
If only because she smiles through me.

Wonderful image :) She has a lovely smile. Hugs Trish xxx
A lovely portrait, a wonderful smile, and a beautiful, though sad poem. Awesome work!
I enjoy all your poems-you are a gifted poet. As I read this poem and observe the portrait I vacilate between a light and heavy heart. The mood and rythm are harmoniously disconcerting. Good work and may you be happy today!
