Description
This is a character that will inhabit the catwalks of the great Zeppelin. (see further on the next pages) He's entirely built in Strata 3D using modified primitive shapes. The face mask is not only for oxygen, but to disguise the need to model moving lips. The same with the goggles. This was the high-water mark of me trying to build organics in Strata. Especially hands. So I got Poser 4.0 and we'll see what that brings. I expect that when the time comes to render the Zeppelin film, I'll still use the mask and goggles. I don't expect any dialog in this piece...but it will be a joy to work with fully articulated hands and IK chains.

All modified primatives, eh? You did an excellent job making this little guy look organic. I really like the mask concept, and his hands look great from here. Good texturing too, and I like the pose. It gives him "character", which is what many companies and animators look for in a model. Keep modelling, and you won't even need to touch Poser ;) Great work.
Sped: Thanks. The reason for the pose is that he has just spotted, and is calling out, "Fighters at 5 o'clock high!!" A flight of six Payens fighters have just been seen boring in from astern and go ripping down the starboard side. Alarming at first, but then it's discovered that the fighters (from Greater Treffen)are merely 'showing the flag' in a bit of disputed airspace. Relations between Treffen and Carriggornis are, in fact, quite cordial. On the whole, I like him too, but I have run smack against the limitations of modeling with primatives here. Every character cannot have a fully covered face, and a complete jumpsuit.
