Description
One day I blundered into a website devoted to the work of Roland Payen, a French aircraft designer who apparently did his best work between the two World Wars. There is almost no biography, but lots of good drawings (3-views) of his designs. This Racer/Fighter is based on Payens, as are the Bombers in the next two images. His designs were characterized by putting the horizontal stabilizers up front as a canard wing and making the main wing a delta shape. I've never seen anything by him in real life (despite a great fondness for aircraft/history) but it seems that his designs were serious contenders for some contests sponsored by the French Air Force. Check out the site.
