Description
I also write. Sometimes people pay me for it.
Mostly I write supplements for role-playing games (the real ones, using paper and dice). After working on ADVANCED DUNGEONS AND DRAGONS and MARVEL SUPER-HEROES, I wanted to create my own project.
In 1987, the project was "Chicago 2050: Adventures in the Post-Rational Age." It was a multi-genre game sombined sci-fi, horror, fantasy, and superheroic genres, centered on the sprawling city-state of Chicago Metroplex (population 68 million).
I figured the proudct line would consist of a core book, six supplements concentrating on different aspects of the C2050 setting, and at least one novel (for starters).
The above image is acrylic paint on 11x17 illustration board. It was created as a cover art proposal.
Unfortunately no one was interested in a multi-genre game. ("Gamers are too stupid to understand a multi-genre game" a TSR desiger I worked under told me.) And in 1988, no one wanted a game that took a scifi near-future urban setting and threw in magic and monsters.
First person who mentions 1989's Shadowrun gets a virtual shoe thrown at them.......

nicely done - time has to be ripe for some adventures ...
Oh, so some of my most enjoyable times playing D&D I might actually owe to you! Cool, altough I don't really remember alot of the supplements that my group used. I wish your concept had worked. It sounds like it would have been a nice departure from RIFTS.
Nice work, style reminds me of the Folios, sorta And don't feel bad, Shadowrun only made it because Cyberpunk shot into the light at the same time...Just need to work on your timing ;)
this is imagative and very good.
Nice! Might you have done the art for any other RPGs?
Superb! What an Idea! You were way ahead of your time. Now all the video games are adapting this idea as well! One that comes to mind is Deus Ex I think is the name.
