Description
This is my first lighthouse in Bryce5. The file itself is only 9 megs but it took over 72 hrs to render. This was done using a 933 P-III with 768 megs of ram. If anyone has any suggestion on how I can shorten the render time please let me know.

oh man! 72 hours?! it's extreme! there are no reflections and refractions. try to set down the anti aliasing! the waves are great, but the textures of the terrains are needs more deteils ans structure. the terrain in the foreground looks like a photo. it is a photo?
No photo, everything was done in Bryce, the rock texture was something I created. ;-)
beautiful work!...this is excellent...
The port, and the house need a little improvement with texture. Overall, a very good job.
Beautiful work, Bam Bam, as always! Do you have a graphics card? I don't mean a Geforce or Radeon, but if you're gonna crank up your Anti-aliasing THAT far, get an Oxygen card or something! 3 days! Were you playing Unreal Tourney at the same time you rendered?
Perhaps the ratracing is a bit stupid in bryce, I don't know - but yu do seem to reflect the sky into the water as well as some other complex geometry - like the railings - that must have hurt. The sea material is amazingly good! this is all procedural? takes notes Great work, keep the water, throw away the ligth house, and make something else! liek a dock in a storm?! Make the lighting work for you more!
I give you this for haveing the patience to let it render for so long...excellent textures and setup this pic could really rock if you did postwork, like painting spray and mist...on the rendering speeds is the atmosperic box checked in the skylab?if it is unclick it,when that is checked it slows everything down to a crawl, other than that try useing different textures to speed up rendering times i personally never let a pic render for more than 5 hours and that is if I really want a certain look most of my renders are in the 45mins to an 1.5 hours range and at the resolution 1024 by 768 and this is on an AMD Duron 650 with 256 sdram and a ATI rage fury pro 32meg video card...on some of my ten second animations it has taken 72 hours never one pic tho...I hope you find out what is wrong sorry about being longwinded but I too went thru this and most of the trouble was the settings of the materials in the materials lab....
foleypro/OpticNerve, thanks for the imput, I'll try some of your sugestions, but I must also say that I really like doing lighthouses...;-)
Wow! This is super! This is excellent work! This is a very beautiful picture!
