Description
Joltin' joe or mocha fine,
Fill 'er up, right to the line.
A little cream, or make it black;
I crave the great big punch it packs.
Got hooked at twenty, in college days
Kept me focused, out of the haze.
Got good grades but never slept,
Ever full my cup was kept.
Never iced, I like it hot,
Sip it down, it hits the spot.
Hold the lattes, tall and grand,
Put just plain coffee in my hand.
Gets me through those work filled hours,
It surely has some magic powers.
My desktop cup is always full
Six cups a day, and that's no bull.
Gotta have it, I'll never stop,
'Cause it's good to that last drop.
The best part of wakin' up
Is java, java, in my cup.
Mister coffee, up all night,
Waiting there with filter white.
On the counter, clicks on at five,
And brews that brew so I'll survive.
Ground up beans, darkly roasted,
In the can near my bagel toasted.
Or sometimes cereal, eggs and steak,
but always coffee, for goodness sake!

LOL! I can't kick the coffee habit either. It tastes so good in the morning.
BRAVO!! A brilliantly written ode to coffee!! I can imagine millions of people can identify with your words. I love your poems and essays, Jack. I hope you do some more.
LOL, about time coffee got the poetic respect it deserves, nicely put...
I'd never really wake up without it... fun piece....

That is so perfect, reminds me of the quest that Bonewits wrote for Chaosium.
