That's WHY I didn't buy it! ai promo images for an environment or character are useless. But I can't even bother to be perturbed.

The comfy software is free to download, but if you plan to use it on a regular base, it will cost you a subscription. 

So much stuff is leaning towards AI.  I wonder if using AI is equal to pirating some ones information.

This is the first product from 1971 to feature AI rendering. None of his previous products feature AI rendering. In my opinion, he should have included (as he usually does) a rendering with separate geometry.

I bought it (Daz version) just to see what it looks like. Not surprisingly, it doesn't look like the ai promos, but not bad. I'm not returning it. I'll just consider it a saving since that's my last 1971s purchase.

I'm not an anti-AI freak, but using only AI images in promos is really bad... Even before AI, I've always been for having at least a few images of the product, isolated and in neutral light, so you know what you're buying... But I guess this AI thing is only blowing what always happened -- misleading promos. I've bought a few characters that look amazing in promos but, when you load it... Well... Disappointing, to say the least... So, I'll just adopt the same cautious approach I've always had...

P.S.: And no... Using AI is not equal to "pirating someone's information." The same rules against plagiarism should apply for both human and AI creation, so, if you can't prove plagiarism, same rules apply. And all true artists know the maxim, "steal from one person, and it's plagiarism; steal from many, and it's research." Everyone who believes that one or someone else creates art "ex nihilo" is completely deluded. Everyone creates from what one has learned and experienced with all the senses. What counts is how you transform it and create something new therefrom. Of course, there's a lot of AI generic "art" -- but so there is human's.

Does this fall within the realm of negative criticism? I was under the impression Rendo only wanted positive reviews for the vendors. Sometimes telling the truth about a product is not a good thing for the vendor.

I always considered his promos as artistic rather than render-representative anyway. But the fact that they were all marked as ai and looked so much better than I would've expected from a mildly Photoshopped render, took me aback. I'm not unhappy with the product, and I would've had to do a lot of work to bring it up to standard regardless of the promo.

I don't see why that would be my concern. If reviews can only be positive, they have no value.

I mean, no need to be malicious, you ought to be accurate and the review should be about the product and not some tangential issue, but "product didn't resemble marketing copy" is entirely appropriate feedback if you ask me.

What if you purchase a product that was made with AI and it is not stated. You use the product and upload it to your gallery or in a Rendo contest not knowing it was made with AI and therefore you select the option pertaining to No Al. Does this mean you are being deceptive?  With this thought in mind, I think Rendo needs to add an option for us to choose that states we are unaware if the product(s) uses anything made with AI.

I do not willingly use AI.

I see https://www.renderosity.com/marketplace/products/172684/ever-hungry  is trying to address that by marking their preview explicitly as not AI. Which I respect but relying on the artists to each respond to a lack of rules in their own ways is going to make an incoherent marketplace.

Regarding 1971s, I like their style a lot. I have 82 of their products, it's not about that. I'm still not going to buy something with no honest previews.

Yes, sadly, it's why I've been buying the old stuff, and no new stuff. I used to like Powerage, Shreddder, etc... but I can't trust the content will look good, and then there is the whole fact that why I used to buy products has been replaced by AI, soooo... I only buy things to treat myself once in a while. I really value the artists who create products without AI. To you, I say bravo.

Also, thank you to Renderosity for making AI labeling a thing. I have pretty much quit DAZ3d because they haven't done that at all.
