What made Christmas holidays extra special was when Dad came home for Christmas. Like many kids with parents in the Military or jobs that took them away from home, often there was an empty seat at the Christmas table and a hole in your heart.
A letter to Santa always had a scribbled message asking if Daddy could come home this year for Christmas....and sometimes he did.
