Battle at The Gate of Time and Space!  

My heroine, Queen O'ne Chi of the Planet Ai versus Superman, the Man of Steel.

On a planet near the first star.

The Man of Steel looked about trying to figure out just where they were.  His opponent, Queen O'ne Chi summoned her Axe.  She knew an Axe that could humble Death itself would not dull upon Kryptonian skin.  "You said you wished to battle where the humans of Earth would not be in danger.  A planet at the Edge of Time and Space fills your wish does it not?"

"It does, he answered as he began to float up into position.  Once he defeated her he hoped she'd be in condition to aid in programming that gate.  He had no idea how it worked. "Before we begin.  Have you killed?  You threatened my life.  I have a code against killing."

"It was not a threat but a conclusion," said O'ne Chi as she made a random slice that was under her perfect control.  Her Axe glowed as the very atoms in the air sliced into particulates and exploded in an arc of color and light.  "I have no such code.  I have killed thousands and still there was not enough blood."

"Why?"  His steel blue eyes glowed red as smoke leaked from edges.  His heat vision always had intimidated many but he saw it had no effect on her spine.  "Why would you kill so many?"

He was taken aback as white smoke edged from her own green eyes.  "Why would I kill so many?"  She struck her favorite battle pose.  Axe raised high, knees bent and her balance perfect.  Her voice as smooth and as supple her as body.  "For Love."

He wondered for a moment had she truly chosen a planet with a yellow sun so that he would be fully powered for the battle to come.  Feeling his body had absorbed enough yellow sunlight, he could feel the unimaginable power of being super surge through every strand of his Kryptonian DNA.  The distance was perfect for full speed.  He tried one last time to dissuade her.  "Here.  Now.  On this planet.  With that sun.  You know that I'm unbeatable."

"This is what I have heard.  Yet know that today I am stronger."  The slightest smile curled the corner of her full lips for a split second as she gloried in the battle to come.  The moment left her as she grit her teeth and raised her power level.  As she did, the ground around her cratered for a mile in all directions.  Even from above he could feel his skin prickling at her unrestrained power emanating from her perfect body and over-sized axe.  "For I have someone to protect."

He closed his smoking eyes for a moment then opened them as he saw no way out except to fight. "Are you ready then?"

"Yes," said the Queen of Ai.  "Come drink with me."

It took less than half a blink and Superman was at full speed.

He was surprised to find O'ne Chi was faster.
