Title : blood ties « Welcome home, you see, my dear, you'll end up love me...†She stood there, subjected and shivering in the evening wind, wondering which of her tears or blood touch her heart first This image was created with Poser Pro 2012. All postwork was done in Photoshop. The image was loosely inspired by the Francis Ford Coppola’s Dracula. I wanted to recreate a scene as troubling as a first kiss or as the moment when the bride has the impression of doing the big leap into the unknown with her future husband. That is why, in my composition, the couple forms a sort of heart shape with the tip in their hands meet. But it is an already weakened heart, the little space which still separates them seems to grow under the leadership of the gate half open in the background. Finally, the tone of the image is based on a triad of colors between red blood, night blue and bridal white . I wanted to offset the drama of the scene with a velvety appeareance and a variation of the red carnation through varying shades of mist, of sparkle in vampire’s strange eyes, of blood, and of flower petals. After several trials to test a limited depth of field, I had separated my scene in different passes, from the background to the foreground, to recompose them afterwards. I don’t know exactly how long I worked on this image (probably over 10 hours). I spent a lot of time to rebalance the composition, to adjust the lighting, in a way to maintain a bittersweet atmosphere between the two characters. Maybe they could end up loving after all ...
