As she lay in bed listening to her wonderful husband snore, their 3 sweet puppies snuggled close, she just has just one dream.. Sure, she is grateful to his parents, opening their doors and their hearts to welcome them in when they had fallen on hard times. And yes, her little family always has food in their bellies. She has all the love she could ever want. But, to have her own home again... Yes, this is her dream. A home to call her own. With her eyes closed tightly, she could see it so clearly now. She didn't long for a mansion, just a small house would do, out in the country with some land, and it HAD to have a big red barn! Her front porch would have an gently swaying, old fashioned swing for her and her husband to cuddle up on. Lazily, counting the stars on warm summer evenings, while the dogs lay at their feet, snoozing. The front yard would have huge trees; trees so old they could each tell a story of their own, stories of long ago days gone by. In that massive red barn, there would be a sloe-eyed, gentle dairy cow named Bessie, some plucky hens for fresh eggs and 3 mischievous kittens. One kitten would be black and be named Blanca, another would be white and called Luna, and the third would be a one grey named Shade. They would sit patiently, mewing and waiting for their taste of fresh milk each morning. In one stall of the barn there would be only a saddle, awaiting the day when she could have her very own horse. This horse would be a small black horse with a star on her forehead, and her name would be Misty Blue. There would be 2 goats both name Goat because she knows how much they make her husband laugh. She does love her critters so... Inside that little house, on cold winter nights, the wood stove would be fired up and crackling, inviting her loved ones to relax and melt all the days troubles away. She would lay on the comfy old couch reading a book, and he would be sitting in his big chair, flipping through the channels. Each dog would have its special place, a soft bed filled with all the toys and bones they could ever want for. And when it was time to go to bed they would lock up, go lay in bed in each others arms, her listening once again to him snoring, with her 3 sweet puppies snuggled close... And as she closed her eyes, she would smile because there was nothing more to dream for, for nows she had it all. Number of words: 451 What inspired my story is my life... I am the "she" from my story. And all I wanted for the Holiday Season was my own home... Maybe next year....
