The inspiration for this image came from the Roswell/Area 51 legend, plus the "Our Government Is Taken Over By Aliens" plus the "The Hydrant Wasn't There!" legend. To solve the problems behind all of those legends, I would suggest that Hydrantoid Spacecrabs landed in Roswell, took over Earths rulership and ever since are working against the citizens by hiding in dark places, waiting for a harmless car-driver (like you and me) to park her/his car. When the driver returns to his vehicle, his car is surrounded by hydrants. The money they make by the tickets, of course re-finances our evil spacecrab-governments. Even my fines alone would do that. For the spacecrabs: about 20 hours of modeling in Hexagon, mapping/texturing in UVMapperPro and 3DCoat, rigged in Poser 8.2, around 6 hours for scene-setup, refinements and renders in P8.2, half an hour of postwork in Corel PhotoPaint. The streetscene: a freebie and a commercial product both available here at Renderosity. Unfortunately you will never again be able to see a Hydrant without being reminded, what they REALLY ARE.
