Hi! My inspiration for the Halloween Bat Possum came from local rumors, told on the sly about escaped secret government lab animals in the area, one of which happened to be a possum that was either gentically enhanced with bat wings or had bat wings grafted on. Have no idea why in the world anyone would go about creating such a creature and to what possible purpose, but word was that it couldn't fly. It could flap it's wings a lot in a jittery, jerky kind of way. One local old timer swore he saw it once in the wee hours of the morning, rooting around in the garbage dumpster behind Diary Queen. He said the wings made the same sound as when you crumble a piece of paper. Whether there actually was such a bat possum I don't know, but if there was, it's likely long gone by now since possums generally live only 2 to 3 years. Possums are a frisky bunch though and I'd like to think that the bat possum may of had a girlfriend or two during it's short life span and that there just might be some bat possum descendants still roaming about out there at night. I used Paint Shop Pro 8 to create the image. Worked on it off and on, here and there for about a month. The possum photo I tubed from a picture taken by an outdoor night game camera. Happy Halloween! :)
