Among the many urban legends we hear about today, one of them, has very ancient roots, and tells about the cats blacks, and their "malicious skills." In the late Middle Ages, especially if the cats were black, were regarded as demons, or as messengers of the devil and witches. One of these legends has it that these messengers of evil, were sent by witches residing in homes where children or teenagers during sleep and sucked the lifeblood from their bodies or souls. In fact, due to a parasite found in ergot (Claviceps purpurea), a type of corn with which they made the bread, there was a crowd in Salem witch hunt.
