An unsuspecting young motorist on a metro freeway exits his disabled car at night. He doesn’t realize that the surrounding patches of city forest haven’t seen a human footprint for decades. He doesn’t know what strange mutations in urban wildlife have been spawned by years of bombardment with highway fumes and smog. Suddenly, to his horror, he becomes the latest victim of the stealthy and vicious HIGHWAY MUTANTS! Another motorist has reported the activity, and the spotlight of an arriving highway patrol car catches the gruesome scene as the mutant monster toys with its prey. The inspiration for this image was local rumors when I was a kid that glimpses of some strange creatures had been encountered in the untouched forested areas along city freeways. This image was done in about 4 hours. The render was done in two stages in Poser 8, and saved as png files with no background. The background was then created entirely in Photoshop.
