Writing Halloween Contest 2010: "Urban Legends"

I wrote "Iselda" based on the southwest and Mexican myth of the "llorona," a spirit of a woman whose children have drowned in a ditch. This urban legend is used to scare children away from ditches, which are used to irrigate crops on farms.
