The Legend This is the way i heard this legend when i was a young girl still living in my home town of Reading Berkshire. The Fairmile institute was opened in 1870. A couple had gone out one night for a country drive, they were new to the area and handn't heard of the infamous Fairmile institution a place were they kept some of the most insane and psychologicly disturbed. They also hadn't heard that night that there was an escaped psycho on the loose They had, had a wonderful evening even stopped for a quick kiss and cuddle and were now just seeing what was in the area. When the car started to play up, it started to sputter and backfire till finally the car stopped. When the guy looked at the petrol gauge he could see the error he had made, the car was out of petrol cussing his luck he told the girl to stay in the car he would be back shortly. Grabbing the petrol can from the back of the car the guy says "look if you get scared then turn on the radio no ones gonna hear you out here and i wont be long I saw a garage about a mile back." They have a lingering kiss and she says "dont be long babe its creepy out here." As he sets off for the garage she tries the radio but can't get a signal so she slams a tape in the deck (there was no such things as CDs when i was young lol)and turns up the sound, time passes she slams in another tape when she puts the 3rd one in she starts getting really scared she knew her boyfriend shouldnt have been gone that long. All of a sudden there is a huge bang just above her head she screams out her boyfriends name but the only answer is another bang and a manicle laugh. Just as she is about to go out of her head she sees the flashing blues of the police, they stop short of the car and on load hailers instruct the girl to get outta the car but what ever she does she is not to look back. She gets outta the car and runs to the police just as she is about to reach safty she looks back at the thing with the with the inhuman laugh and to find out what the hell that banging is. She doesnt remember much herself but the police had a hell of a job stopping her from screaming. The site that met her eyes was a lunatic on top of the car banging her decapitated boyfriends head on the roof, there was blood every were and the lunatic was screaming and laughing all the while.
