The town I live in has a legend of sorts. Near the time that the town was first settled, a woman drowned in one of the lakes. The locals said later that she haunts the lake, appearing occasionally as a white apparition. She was called the Lady of the Lake, and the town was named Lady Lake after her. Today, very few can even recall which lake she drowned in. This was rendered in two separate passes. The ghost was rendered in DAZ Studio with the default render engine and the pwGhost2 shader. Render time was about 1 minute. The environment was set up in DAZ Studio, and a plane was added for the water. The scene was ported to the Reality plugin, the plane was set to water, and is lit by one Sun light with a plane in front of it, acting as a diffuser to eliminate shadow. The diffuser was set to matte translucent in Reality. Then the scene was rendered in Luxrender for about 40 minutes, until I reached about 80 samples per pixel. I kept the light intensity low and the exposure short, and dialed the light to a bluish tint. Both images were composited in PSPx, with some soft focus and brightness correction applied to the ghost.
