If you want a memorable holiday, you have to get off the tourist trail... This is what came to my mind when I read the contest description. The parents are M4 and V4, the kids are Luke 3 and MilGirl PT. I spent days messing around with spacesuit designs but wasn't happy with the results. I ended up just using a big fat displacement map and an orange texture! The biodome, moonbuggy, camera and robot dog were made in Max - you can't go on holiday without the dog, right? Everything was imported to Vue where lights and a tiny little ecosystem were created in the dome, then everything was rendered. Planet Earth came from the NASA public domain archives. Total time taken was just over a week, but much of that was experimenting with things I didn't use in the final render. I learned a lot by doing this project!
