"The Rage of Malbeatha" by Ryan Durney It was an ominous rosey dawn and Malbeatha the witch hovered slightly above the lake searching for Water Fairies to capture and later ruthlessly grind into potions to further her foul existence. She is more creature than human, existing only to concoct foul magic and pervert the forest she was once tied to. She notices our heroes camped on the edge of her lake and a terrible battles ensues starting with one brave Black Labrador. (Or so goes the words of my friend, William L. Musgrove's story, "The Silver Seed of Tirn Aill" that he is working to write and I to fully illustrate) We both felt that the Malbeatha scene had an excellent Halloween feel and it was appropriate for this contest. I work the hardest at ambience and light. I also think that every illustration should spark immagination and ask questions of the viewer. "The Rage of Malbeatha" took me nearly 32 hours, not counting 26 renders. I utilized Zbrush, Poser and Vue 6, as well as pencils and paint. I hope somebody likes it! Thanks, -Ryan (Raven177)
