this picture is a combination of a fractal program i have(apothysis)and several fractal brushes.when i first did the original fractal,i could almost make out a bird's head and a wing.so i morphed the fractal and duplicated bits and pieces of it(like the other wing and tail and head dress).the flames were done with fractal brushes as well.and then i had a phoenix rising from the ashes.
