Norwich Castle - Sunday 17th December 2006 about half an hour before sunset! The perfectly clear blue sky allowed for a bitter cold winter chill in the air. The imposing great tower was built on a high motte in the 12th century. It commands a dominating position over the city. Over the years it has been greatly altered and in 1834 the keep was refaced in Bath stone. For 650 years it served as a prison but in 1894 it was turned into a museum and remains so today.
