From The Greek Mythological Story... PERSEPHONE'S RETURN When Persephone being taken to the Underworld by Hades, her mother Demeter made the land unproductive. Zeus ordered Hades to bring Persephone back to her mother, but the girl had eaten a pomegranate' s grain, so she couldn't run away from the Underworld. At the end, they made a deal: Persephone had to live with Hades for six months, but after that period of time she could return with her mother, making the spring revives.
