That Special Place A child's mind is a special place A place of wonder and joy. A child's mind is a wondrous place For imagination's employ. Here a captain sails the seas In search of pirate plunder. Here the warrior leads his men To dash all foes asunder. The mind's eye can see so clear, Through mist, and fog, and smoke; Important things, both far and near, That will save the village folk. But a child's mind can hold dark thoughts As well of those of cheer, Especially when alone at night When darkness brings on fear. Then dark shapes form under bed To scare the poor lad witless. Surely now, that shoe has moved, To serve as silent witness. But when the dawn comes round about Those fears all melt away, For now's the time to run and shout with friends all out at play. For a child's mind is a special place A place of wonder and joy Working at an astounding pace In imagination's employ.
