CHARACTER ONE: MONA "I cannot explain the emptiness, the unforgiving sound of my blood as it travels through my veins. It just has to stop Dr. Fric, I have to get out of this dark space or I will surely lose my mind completely!" (CHARACTER TWO, DR. FRIC SHUFFLES IN HIS SEAT) DR. FRIC: "We are in this together you and I, and I do not share your sense of helplessness. There is a way out, but you must find that way yourself" (CHARACTER TWO, MONA BEGINS TO WEEP AGAIN) MONA, NOW EMOTIONALLY UPSET AND WEEPING HEAVILY: "You're all alike you shrinks! You think you can turn a phrase into meanings that will ultimately succeed in breaking my will! It's dark, don't you understand??? Can't you just make this go away?? Why do you toy with me so??" (DR. FRIC SHIFTS GETS UP AND BEGINS WALKING AROUND, THE SOUND OF HIS FOOTSTEPS CRISP AS THEY PACE THE MARBLE FLOOR) MONA, IN A FRIGHTENED TONE RESPONDS, ARMS OUTSTRETCHED FEARING CONTACT FROM THE DARK THAT SHE CANNOT CONTROL. "Where are you going? What are you doing? DR. FRIC: "I am thinking, thinking about all of the excuses you have come up with today, thinking about your darkness, feeling your darkness, only I cannot comprehend your pain, your fear and your lack of trust. I believe you are stalling, I believe you enjoy the world taking care of you." MONA, IN A LIVID TONE REPLIES SHOUTING: "I DO NOT! YOU KNOW I DON'T! I WANT HELP! IT IS DARK, I WANT LIGHT! I MISS THE LIGHT...*weeping heavily, Mona continues* Please......I beg of you, turn on the light! Let me live my life free from fear.....please......please...help me.....:" (DR. FRIC POURS HIMSELF A GLASS OF WATER, AND SITS DOWN AGAIN, PICKING UP HIS PAD AND PENCIL HE BEGINS TO TAKE NOTES) MONA RESPONDS: "How can let me stay in this pain, I don't understand. Your to help me, I pay you to help me!" DR. FRIC RESPONDS: "Mona, let's try this one more time, for the last 3 years, we have come to this fork in the road, I will instruct you again.
