"Persephone's Return" Demeter is the Goddess of Nature and agriculture sister to Zues and mother of Persephone. Here is a short version of the story; Persephone was gethering flowers one day when Hades opened up the earth and took her to the underworld to be his queen. Demeter( Persephone's Mother ) was devastated by the loss of her daughter and searched the earth looking for her. During which time the crops all died and it became perpetual winter. While in the underworld Persephone ate 6 pomegranate seeds. Hades was later persuaded to return Persephone to her mother. But for the 6 seeds she ate she would have to return to the underworld for 6 months out of the year. So for those 6 months it would become winter until Demeter's daughter returned.
