The New Dawn of Dystopia

Dystopia City, 2259.
History tells of a time when gods walked among the citizens of Dystopia. Men and women with abilities and powers far beyond those of mortal man. The Chronicles mention two score of heroes who arose during the end of 2210, who defended the world from villains of the worst kind, too numerous to count. Then came the Great War of 2230, a battle between the people of earth and an alien race known only as the Sha'Kron. Heroes and villains alike united in a common goal to defeat these outsiders who sought the annihilation of the human race. The invaders were turned away but alas, the gods of old were destroyed in the final battle.

The Present: Dystopia City, 2330.
In the aftermath of the Great War, the citizens of Dystopia worked to heal their wounds by learning how to protect themselves. No longer a simple city defended by heroes, it is a skillfully unified military force in which the subjects are directed by Versiera, the head of The Curate. The Curate serve as the spiritual advisors and care takers of the people. Versiera Curate emerged as the most powerful and persuasive among them. In her desperate desire to protect Dystopia, she inspired the people with a single vision of unity and hope. Yet, over time her vision gave way to paranoia and her desire to protect the people shifted into a desire to protect her own personal power. In fear of losing that power, Versiera convinced the Curate to arm the city to the teeth.

Small rebellions have begun to break out but are often quickly silenced by "The Curate's" shock troopers. Amongst these rebellions, rumors spread of new heroes and heroes long thought dead emerging. Fearing a possible coup by these so called "Supers", Versiera brokers a deal with the few remaining Sha'Kron who have taken shelter on the earth's moon. Seeking to create her own Super using the alien technology acquired in her deal, she begins experimenting on prisoners and criminals. However, the Sha'Kron, whose sole request in the bargain was to be allowed to make base on earth, have plans of their own.
Thus begins our journey into the world of Dystopia.

General Contest Rules: Contest Theme: Create a single frame Comic Book Cover Image depicting your vision of how the above Dystopia story should start. The image may be set in the past or present version of Dystopia. Show us what the beginning of this epic saga looks like.

Submission Specifications:
To submit a contest entry you will need: Full Image: No larger than 1024 pixels high x 768 pixels wide [72 dpi in jpg or gif format] to upload on the website. Thumbnail Image: MUST be included. (100 x 100 pixels in jpg or gif format.)SPECIAL NOTE: Artists need to render and save a signed 300dpi version of their entries. Selected entries may be featured at Siggraph 2006 in Boston!

Contest Rules: No nudity. Postwork is allowed Only one (1) entry per person Collaborations are not allowed. The image must be your own original creation. The image must comply with Renderosity's Terms of Service. Image must be new and not posted in any gallery prior to this contest. All entries will be reviewed before being posted. We reserve the right to reject entries that may not be suitable for this contest. Open to all Renderosity members except Sponsors, Judges, Admins and Bondware employees.

Judging: Images will be judged by a panel based on the following criteria:

  4. Technical merit
  5. Adherance to the Contest Theme.
