CHALLENGE TOPIC

• The LightWave Forum's January Challenge is to create a

"Still Life" setting that makes best use dramatic lighting, shadows, and reflections. The final image can be a literal translation of surface reflections, or an image that encourages a viewer to reflect on inward meanings.CHALLENGE RULES

• Open to all Renderosity members. Qualifying round of votes will be open to all, with winners selected by a panel of judges.
• All entries should follow Renderosity's Terms of Service.
• All final entries should be rendered from LightWave 3D. Any version is accepted.
• Postwork is allowed, but not encouraged. Try to push LightWave to get all the effects, including any postwork shaders, done during the rendering process.
• Only one entry is allowed per member. Once it is uploaded to the challenge page that entry is considered the final submission and cannot be changed. If multiple entries are submitted, only the first entry will be allowed.
• All entries should be no larger than 512kb in file size, and should not exceed 1024 x 768 pixels.
• Optional thumbnails must be 100 x 100 pixels (or they won't upload).
• Multiple WIP images posted to the Forum are encouraged, but only entries uploaded to the challenge page will be considered. Each entry needs to be "approved" before it appears on the challenge page, so please be patient while it is being reviewed.

POWER CHALLENGE

• For more advanced users, we are offering a

Power User version of this challenge! You still need to submit a rendered image and follow the rules as stated above, but in addition we would like you to also submit a link to an externally hosted animation file. Use your imagination to create animated elements to this "still life" setting. Whether it be a camera angle that reveals more in the reflections than meets the eye; or using shadows that pass over the setting to enhance the depth of the image; or even with magical light sources or animated particles that play across the "still life". Let's standardize the rendered animation size to be 320 x 240 pixels, with a maximum file size of 5MB. No time limit for the animation is specified. • This challenge starts now! This will be a two-month long challenge. Deadline for your entries will be on

12:00 PM, Renderosity Server Time, Sunday, 27-Feb-2005. Artists grant permission to Renderosity for the use of submitted images for an undetermined period of time. The artist will always remain the intellectual property and copyright holder.
