Sep 03, 2014 at 12:00 am by Store Staff

image_101370_1.jpgEach month the Renderosity community votes on the Renderosity Artist Of The Month [AOM] ... September's AOM is Savage_dragon!
We congratulate Angelis Jara [Savage_dragon] for an outstanding collection of works in the Poser and DAZ|Studio Galleries!

Tell us a bit about yourself. Who is 'Savage_dragon' ?

I grew up in Los Angeles and moved to the high desert nearly 30 years ago. I've worked as a machinist, and even as a silversmith. I've always been happiest when I'm creating.

How long now have you been creating art?

All my life. As long as I can remember I had at least a crayon in my hand.

Do you have any formal art education?

None whatsoever.

What are you currently working on?

I'm trying to relearn DAZ|Studio.

Who, or what, inspires you?

There are many artists here at Renderosity that inspire me.

What do you enjoy most about both Poser and DAZ|Studio?

Though I began learning 3D in DAZ|Studio, I bought Poser 7 when DAZ 3 came out and my machine wouldn't run it. I've been using Poser, now PP2012, ever since. I just recently began trying DAZ|Studio again. With Poser, its the ease of use, since its become my daily habit. Still, there are many aspects I haven't yet explored. DAZ has a lot of new features not available in Poser.

What else might we find in your digital toolset?

Before I fell in love with 3D, I was a Terragen Artist. I loved making my own terrains, and the magic of the landscapes could be anything you could dream of.

What do you think your best piece of work is and why?

I think my best piece of work is not in 3D, but a Terragen 9 image called "Jophiel." It was on the cover of Sci-Fi Weekly, so it's kind of special to me.

Do you have any tips you would be willing to share about the software you use?

I think lighting can be a large factor in how one views an image. It's always been the area I tried to learn the most about.

How has this online community (Renderosity) enhanced your work, relationships, and learning?

I've learned just about everything I know about digital art with the help and encouragement of many artists here. Some have become good friends over the years.

Do you have any parting comments, or advice for other artists?

If it brings a smile to your face, keep doing it.

We invite you to have a further look at Savage_dragon's Renderosity Gallery!

Artist of the Month is highlighting a talented Renderosity artist that has been nominated by mods and admins, and voted by the community. Recognition is given to this member for their collection of works for that year.

Since we only select one AOM per month, it is not about their works for that particular month. Instead, it is about highlighting a talented artist's works for that year, and they are recognized during that month.
