Each month the Renderosity community votes on the Renderosity Artist Of The Month [AOM] ... August's AOM is DAVER2112! We congratulate DAVER2112 for an outstanding collection of works in the Photography Gallery! Who is 'DAVER2112' and how did you come by this member name? First, I have to thank everyone who voted for me, and the Rendo staff for nominating me. This has taken me by complete surprise considering all the great talent I was up against, all of which are just as deserving. My name is David Ricoarango. I was born in Havana, Cuba in 1964 and moved to South Florida when I was a year old. I live in Boca Raton with my wonderful wife Chere and our cat Bika. My member name is just my first name and last initial plus the title to a favorite Rush album, "2112". How long have you been working in photography? I've been into photography since my early teens. My father was a professional photographer in Cuba, so I guess it's genetic. I love all types of photography: Portrait, Landscapes, Wildlife, Still life and anything else that catches my attention.
Do you have any traditional art experience? Not really. Apart from art class in junior high school, I've pretty much taught myself. I've watched a lot of tutorials online on everything to do with photography, from equipment to techniques & software, to do-it-yourself studio equipment. It's all out there, you just have to look for it. What are you currently working on? I'm currently working on a book on my nature photography. It contains what I consider to be my best images, along with some quotes about nature by famous people, like Frank lloyd Wright, Albert Einstein and Henry David Thoreau. I'm also experimenting with studio photography, different lighting techniques, stop-motion and high-speed photography.
What software/equipment do you use and why? I'm currently using Photoshop CS3, and Digital Photo Professional software that was included with my Canon camera. I've also been using Bryce 6 and Daz Studio for about 3 years for 3D renderings. I've been shooting with a Canon Rebel Xti with a 18-55mm f/3.5 lens and a Canon 50D with a 70-200mm f/4 l lens. What do you think your best piece of work is and why? That's a really hard question, I like so many of them. Off the top of my head I would say "Skimming the surface." I really like the gracefulness of the Egret skimming across the water and the contrast of the white feathers against the blue sky reflected on the water.
Who, or what, inspires you? My wife's a big inspiration to me, she's my biggest fan. I also get a lot of inspiration from other members here. There are so many talented people here at Rendo that it's hard not to be inspired. I also get a lot of inspiration from music. What do you enjoy most about photography? I love just about everything about it. I love going out in the morning with no idea of what I'll be coming home with. Sometimes, I take a shot of a bird or a landscape, and at that moment I know I've captured something special. It's a great feeling. Just being out in nature is a good excuse to go photograph something.
How has this online community (Renderosity) enhanced your work, relationships, and learning? I have to tell you, it's wonderful. There's so many people here with so many different talents all sharing it with one another. I can't imagine not being a part of it. I learn something from everyone here and I hope I've helped someone out somehow. I'ts a great community to be a part of and you get to make some really nice friends. Do you have any parting comments, or advice for other artists? All I can say is, do what brings you happiness, love the ones around you, stop and smell the roses and then get a really nice shot of it. I wish everyone here at Rendo all the happiness they desire. Take care, David We invite you to have a further look at DAVER2112's Renderosity Gallery! Artist of the Month is highlighting a talented Renderosity artist that has been nominated by mods and admins, and voted by the community. Recognition is given to this member for their collection of works for that year. Since we only select one AOM per month, it is not about their works for that particular month. Instead, it is about highlighting a talented artist's works for that year, and they are recognized during that month. To learn more about Renderosity's Artist Of The Month [AOM] award, and to view our past AOM's, please visit the AOM page, which can also be found on the sidebar under Highlights. |
