Each month the Renderosity community votes on The Renderosity Artist Of The Month [AOM] ... May's AOM is Károly Németh [carlx]!

We congratulate carlx for an outstanding collection of works in the Fractal Gallery!

Who is 'carlx', and how did you come by that username?

First of all: Thanks for nominating me and voting me in. My real name is Károly Németh. I live in Hungary with three wonderful ladies: wife and two daughters. Károly is equal to: Carl, Karl, Charles, etc. When I tried to register my first email adress many years ago, I tried carl, but it was reserved, so I tried some variations and carlx was the winner. After that I used carlx.

How long have you been working with computer graphics?

My first computer was an Amiga 500 in 1993, and one year later Amiga 1200. In this time I used Imagine 3D, Real 3D, DPaint, Ppaint and Vista. I bought my first PC in 1998. I used Imagine 3D for modeling and Bryce for rendering and some application. After some years - when I didn't work with computer graphics - in 2006's autumn I read the news of free Bryce 5.0 and I returned. Always fascinating for me were the fractals, and I started into the fractal world.

Do you have any traditional art experience?

No, I'm self-taught.

Cubic Universe

What are you currently working on?

Now, I'm work with some old and unfinished works with Ultra Fractal and XenoDream.

What software/equipment do you use and why?

My main programs: Ultra Fractal and XenoDream, but I also use Apophysis, Fractal Explorer, Bryce and Terragen, too. Why? I think Ultra Fractal and Xenodream are the best programs to create fractal images. My future plan to go back to 3D modeling and learning Blender 3D.

TreeMaker

What is it that you like about creating Fractal Art?

I love fractal art for the unlimited possibilities, and variegation for the sake of.

What do you think your best piece of work is and why?

It's a hard question... My best piece is always what I just worked on.

Who, or what, inspires you, and how do you get your ideas?

Many things and many artists inspire me. I like the photos, surreal compositions, Terragen, Vue, MojoWorld images, and sci-fi or fantasy 3D scenes...and naturally, I love the Fractal arts. Some names, without the claim of completeness: Yvonne Mous, Juliette Gribnau, Joseph Presley, Dirk Monteney, Rick Spix, Jock Cooper, Linda McCarthy, Elizabeth Mansco, Jollyself, Réal Joly...

How has this online community (Renderosity) enhanced your work, relationships, and learning?

Renderosity is a fantastic community...very colorful, interesting and useful.

Summer Touch

Do you have any parting comments, or advice for other artists?

My advice is very simple: Try to realize your dream and take it easy!

Artist of the Month is highlighting a talented Renderosity artist that has been nominated by mods and admins, and voted by the community. Recognition is given to this member for their collection of works for that year.

Since we only select one AOM per month, it is not about their works for that particular month. Instead, it is about highlighting a talented artist's works for that year, and they are recognized during that month.

To learn more about Renderosity's Artist Of The Month [AOM] award, and to view our past AOM's, please visit the AOM page, which can also be found on the sidebar under Highlights.
