Who is "JAYBEEH"?
My name is Jeff Hindmarsh...aged 49....I'm an ex-Merchant Seaman / Cook....I live in Newcastle Upon Tyne / England with my perfect partner "Tee" and our dozy dog "Sensi"
"Then I Close My Eyes....."
How long have you been involved in computer graphics?
I bought my first computer in March 2003 and within a few weeks I discovered what I now know to be "Digital Art/Computer Graphics"....I spent the rest of that year teaching myself enough to be able to produce a decent "Digital Image"....my first post to the Galleries here at "Renderosity" was in Sept 2003.
Do you have traditional art experience?
I have always been comfortable with a pencil in my hand and a blank sheet of paper in front of me....so I suppose I've "sketched" all my life....I did play with "watercolors" for a short while but I would say that since leaving school I have had no form of training or experiance with "Traditional Art"
What are you currently working on?
For the past month or two I've been working on the making of 3D models and the intergration of those models within the various progs I use for my images.
"Shrine of Yedahs Surot..."
What software/equipment do you use and why?
I use an "Advent T9402" computer....3.8 GHz...500 Gig hard drive...with 1 Gig of RAM...Powerfull enough for fairly large renders with plenty Hard drive capacity for some of the large pcture files I tend to save. The software I use is as follws..."Mojoworld 3.1 Pro" for the landscape/scenery..."Shade 7" for the 3D Model making...."Poser 6" for any figures... "XenoDream & Fractal Explorer" for any strange effects....and "Paint Shop Pro 9" for just about everything done to an image in postwork.
Why do you like to work with 3D software?
My dog does'nt end up with multi-colored spots.....and 3D software does'nt smell.
Who/what inspires you?
"Roger Dean"..."M C Escher"...."H R Giger" and "Salvadore Dali" had a big impact on me during the 1970's....and I've been very lucky to have had a job that allowed me to travel the world for 25yrs...as with everyone, the sights & sounds I've encountered during my life must have some effect on the way I think and on the Art I create.
"The Sands of Time...."
What do you think your best piece of work is and why?
"Catching Spyders" is one I'm very proud of.....The full 3400x2250 image shows great detail within the many layers I blended to create the image....I spent a lot of time on this work and the "strangeness" of it appeals to me.
How has this online community (Renderosity) enhanced your work, relationships, and learning?
Though I still see myself as just a little way through the learning curve when it comes to "Digital Art" and though I am my own worst critic (rarely satisfied with my own work) I do believe I can now create some decent "Computer Graphics"....I also realize that I could not have reached this point without the information, inspiration and the massive amount of help and encouragement I've had from the "Renderosity" online community...
Parting Comments / Advice to other Artists?
I'd like to say "Thanks very much" to all involved in voting me AOM.....to be recognized by the other members of this community is indeed an honour.... My advice to other artists would be that there is such a wide spectrum of Artwork in the Renderosity galleries that it's easy to find out how many different images are created....just ask questions....we can all learn so much from each other.
Editor's note: We sincerely thank Jeff for taking the time out to answer our questions, and for his contributions as an active member of Renderosity. We wish you all the best for the future. We invite you to look further into Jeff's Renderosity art gallery!
